Time flies and booking a family photo session can be one of things it’s hard to get around to. After all, you’ve probably got a hundred things in your head right now, things that need doing asap, and maybe a little person at your hip asking for a yoghurt, but not an apricot one.
It’s never too late. Babies, toddlers, little kids, big kids, teenagers… photographing your family together at any stage is a wonderful investment and children of all ages love to see their photos on the wall.
So I was thrilled to head over to Great Cambourne to photograph Suzy and her family. Our photo session slotted in nicely between school and dinner and everyone had lots of energy to play together in the garden as well as relaxing indoors. We set aside time for some informal portraits and the rest of the session was spent simply capturing family life as it unfolds. Nerf wars, games, juggling, trampolining with the dog, relaxing in the garden - these activities capture this stage of family life and were of course great fun to photograph.
I was over the moon when two photos from this session won awards from the Family Photojournalist Association. But of course much more important is what the photos meant to Suzy, who messaged me straight away to say ‘I literally could not be happier’. Later, once Suzy had chosen her favourite photos, it was a pleasure to make these into beautiful mounted prints for the family to enjoy.
